Mary Sue “Granny” Hogue, age 81 of Hueytown, Al, passed away at home April 30, 2020, surrounded by family who loved her deeply. Mary Sue graduated from Bessemer High School 1956, Retired from Social Security Administration and was a member of North Highlands Baptist Church. Granny once had a passion for reading, fishing, swimming, spontaneous beach trips and held “summer boot camp”, or at least that’s what the grandkids called it. Her adventures and selfless caring leaves us with great memories and stories that will be cherished as well as shared. She dearly loved all of her family and we all loved her. She was preceded in death by the love of her life, husband, Robert “Bobby” Hogue. She is survived by her children Robert Lee “Monk” Hogue (Susie), James Ray “Jimbo” Hogue (Joan), & Nelda “Sissy” Scott (Robert); grandchildren April Valentz (Ryan), Patrick McCleney (Elizabeth), Christina Clements (William), Nicholas Hogue, Madison Scott (Shelby), Marla Hogue (Morgan), Hunter Scott (Carlee), Mary Beth Hogue (Jared); great grandchildren Cadence, Eli, Sarah, Hannah, Norah, Issac, Cooper, Jackson, & Max; brother Joesph “Joe” Large Sr. (Rose); sister Nell Herron; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Due to the pandemic a private graveside service will be held at Cedar Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be made to the American Lung Association.
