Marcia Lynn Brandt of Mount Prospect, Illinois January 24, 1941 – March 25, 2020 Marcia Lynn Grady-Brandt of Mount Prospect, IL January 24, 1941 – March 25, 2020 Marcia grew up in Fort Wayne, IN, graduating from Concordia Lutheran High School there, then later moved to Mount Prospect, IL in 1960 where she resided 60 years. She worked as a secretary for William Rainey Harper College 30 years, beginning at the Willow Park Center satellite before transferring to the main campus in Palatine, and finally retiring in 2008. She also received an Associates Degree of Applied Science at Harper College in 1980. “Marcy” had a love for arts & crafts, architecture and music. Her Associates Degree was achieved through the Interior Design program, which led to her holding a professional interior design license for many years. She also worked occasionally for architects she met through the school, creating drawings that she was very proud of. She created several arts and crafts that were displayed proudly in her home. She also collected items from her travels, including Paris and Tokyo that were of particular fond memory to her. She loved the city of Chicago and was always excited to explore its’ art, architecture and fine dining. She loved to sing and briefly picked up the acoustic guitar to accompany that. Decorating for special occasions, and preparing the dining room for extravagant meals cooked with family and friends were some of her favorite activities as well, and she made sure to make everyone present feel just as special. Her kindness, generosity and desire to help was felt by all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. Friends and family meant everything to her, and she is now also happy to be with the ones she has missed so much that have gone before her. Marcia was preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Estus Grady & Helen Winkelmann-Grady, and her brother Kevin Grady, all of Fort Wayne, IN. She is survived by her sisters Sharon Grady and Kathleen (Steve) Strycker of Fort Wayne, IN, former spouse Ron (Jan) Brandt of Huntley, IL, her son Jim Brandt of Mill Valley, CA along with daughter in law Christine and grandchildren Casey and Gabrielle, her son Tyler Brandt of Mount Prospect, IL along with daughter in law Debbie, and grandson Matthew -whose mother Myrna and sister Megan remained close as family to Marcia. She will also be missed by many cousins, nieces, nephews and close friends. A celebration of life will be held with loved ones at a later date.
