L. Susan’s Obituary Susan Murphy, of Flushing, age 79, was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her loving family on April 28, 2020, at her home. Private interment to take place at New Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Memorial service details to come. Susan was born at her grandparents’ farm house in Mount Morris, Michigan to Hazel (Ingram) and the late James Lyle Besant. She married John “Jack” Murphy on August 31, 1963 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Mount Morris. He preceded her in death on November 19, 2015. Susan graduated from Flint Northern High School . She worked at Smith Bridgman’s and The Flint Journal before marrying and becoming a homemaker. She was a loving wife, mother, good friend, great listener and confidante to many. Sue loved all animals especially strays. She enjoyed reading and solving puzzles. She was a member of St. Robert Catholic Church in Flushing for over forty years and prior to that, St. Luke Catholic Church in Flint. She is survived by her children, Kimberly (Daniel Irland) Mattar , Katherine and husband Paul Miller, Patrick and wife Cynthia Murphy, Jennifer and husband Vincent Stallings, Michael and wife Jane Murphy; 12 grandchildren, Danielle, Katherine, Anthony, Jacob, Anna, Damien, Isabella, Brittany, Gabrielle, Maya, Madison, Max; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Needham, brother-in-law Michael and wife Elaine Murphy; several nieces and nephews and many dear friends. She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Dennis Needham and Jack Besant and sister, Virginia Switalski.
