Gus’ Obituary Born in the Bronx, New York, Augustino “Gus” Americo Muccin, a resident of Cape Charles, Virginia, started his walk in heaven the day after Easter. His passing was quiet, comfortable, with dignity and peaceful—in a way that his family believes he would have wanted to go. He was 87 years young. Gus leaves behind his beautiful wife, Dorothy. From the moment he saw her he knew he would marry her! Sixty-seven years of marriage brought him two amazing daughters and two sons-in- law who he adored, Jeanette Orzo (Ralph) and Linda Sartori (Sandro); three grandchildren that were his pride and joy; Jason (Michele), Marc (Michelle) and Lara (JP). If you received his annual Christmas card then you also knew how much he cherished his eight great- grandchildren! Gus was born to Italian-immigrants. He was the first of the children to be born in America. He was blessed to have a long relationship with his older sister, Teresa and his late brother, Angelo. He held a special place in his heart for his wife’s family and all of his nieces and nephews. Gus was blessed with many amazing people in his life, friends that became family and many that considered him to be a second dad or grandfather. There are too many to mention, but you all know how special you were to him! This includes all of the “girls” over the years that have cared for his wife. Gus had a love for life and lived it to the fullest! Cooking, playing games, boating, fishing, gardening, traveling, making new friends- he was always busy having fun. A dedicated Catholic, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an usher for St. Charles Catholic Church. He was involved with the Sons of the American Legion and was always a willing volunteer to do the cooking for any event! Gus retired from ConEdison in New York after over forty five years of service. Dependable and detailed, he was a very sought-after and skilled splicer. The stories he told of his time on the job and in the man-holes were priceless. To know Gus was to know his stories! If you are so inclined, you could purchase some ConEdison stock in his memory. He would love it! In lieu of sending flowers now, we have arranged with SeaGrass Studio in Cape Charles to make an arrangement of flowers to be delivered weekly instead of all at once. We know he would be happy to have “his Dorothy” receive this beautiful gift in his memory. Please call them to make arrangements at 757-695-2130. The family will announce a celebration of life at a later date.
