Gerald’s Obituary Gerald Doug Gorzney, 69, of Cross Roads, TX, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020 in Cross Roads. He was born April 28, 1950 in Moline, IL to Orville and Patricia (Douglas) Gorzney. He grew up in Irving, TX and graduated from McArthur High School in 1968. Jerry attended Tarrant County Junior College and the University of North Texas while working carpentry, competing in motocross, being a disc jockey for a radio network, and while courting his future wife, whom he met at a mutual friend’s wedding. Jerry married Diane Coffey on May 24, 1975 in Irving, TX. Diane was the love of his life for 44 years and they were together for 48 years. His hobbies included cooking, skiing in Colorado and Utah, trail-riding on his dirt bike, traveling the world and taking road trips with his wife while listening to his favorite tunes, tinkering with projects in the garage, and fishing. He was known for being a history buff, comedian, storyteller, and animal lover. He was proud of his hard-working daughter who shared his love of knowledge, animals, traveling and being outdoors. If there was one word to describe Jerry, it would be “content”. Jerry is survived by his wife, Diane of Cross Roads, TX; daughter, McKenzie Gorzney of Hurst, TX; two brothers, Richard Gorzney of Quinlan, TX and Arnold Gorzney of Picayune, MS; brother-in-law, Michael Coffey of Carrollton, TX; and niece, Cameron Van Patten and husband Will of Carrollton, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, Orville and Patricia; and sister, Cynthia Gorzney. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.
