Mr. Edward “Lamar” Gunter, 84, passed away on March 20, 2020. Funeral Services will be announced at a later time. Mr. Gunter was a native of Valdosta and had spent his most recent time in Milledgeville. He was the son of the late Earl Lamar Gunter and Annie Lucille Brown Gunter and was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Diane Mezick Gunter; and his sister, Virginia Ruth Gunter Scarbrough. Mr. Gunter had received his Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a Political Science Minor from the University of Georgia. He was a Veteran of the United States Army having served 4 years in Intelligence. He later worked as a reporter for the Macon (GA) Telegraph, and the Charlotte News before going into Public Service Natural Gas and PR Epley Associates. He volunteered with Charlotte Dilworth South End Rotary and the USO. He was a member of the Avondale Presbyterian Church in Charlotte, NC. Mr. Gunter is survived by a daughter, Tova Diane Gunter; son, Kendall Lamar Gunter; brother, Gene Gunter and his wife Kathleen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
