June 5 1929 March 25 2020
Ival Dare McMillan, passed peacefully on Wednesday, March 25, 2020. She lived a long and wonderful 90 years on this earth. She’d say she didn’t know why the Lord kept her around so long but that He must have a reason. The blue-eyed beauty was a practical woman and hardworking in every way. She was a lifelong member of East Rogersville Baptist Church, where every Sunday she’d save two pews so the entire family could sit together. She attended until she was unable and remained a faithful Christian until her last breath. She loved to celebrate every occasion, and just maybe Sunday supper was her favorite. At 4pm each Sunday, the whole family gathered for a meal she’d prepared. And always, there’d be something sweet for dessert that she’d been sure to taste test before serving. She grew up farming in Edison, Tenn and moved to Rogersville, Tenn when she met her beloved husband, George Howard McMillan I. They were married for 47 years, and no doubt, she is reunited with him in Heaven now. She is also preceded in death by her parents Rosa and Lloyd Hilton, brothers and sisters, Dinah Hilton Johnson, Nerge Hilton, Eliza Hilton, Walter Hilton, Gerline Hilton Hurd, Arnold Hilton, Lydia Hilton Hurd, Quall Hilton, William “Bill” Hilton and Joyce Hilton Gordy. She is survived and greatly missed by her four children, Gregory McMillan of Rogersville, Bryan McMillan of LaGrange, Georgia, George Howard McMillan II and his wife Doris of Rogersville and DeeDee Wolfe of Rogersville, nine grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. She made the best biscuits and gravy. She was an impeccable listener and gave great advice. She loved unconditionally and accepted all who walked into her life. She loved spending her days outside working in the yard, feeding the birds and watching the grand and great grandchildren play. Mostly, she loved when we were all together; and one day again, we will be. Family and Friends may come by Christian-Sells Funeral Home after 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 27, 2020. Graveside service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Hawkins Memorial Garden located at 536 Carters Valley Loop, Rogersville, Tenn with Rev. Michael Rollins officiating.
