Obituary Gregg L. Marine, 57, passed away at Lutheran Hospital on Wednesday, March 4, 2020. Gregg was born on September 4, 1962, to Mark and Mary Louise Marine, who survive. He graduated from Madison-Grant High School in 1981. He worked as a project manager, a farmer, a builder…but is probably best known as an outstanding bartender and DJ, being voted Grant County’s Best DJ multiple times, and famous for his extensive (and top secret) drink recipes. As Gregg would always say, he was a jack of all trades, and a master of none. A talented saxophonist, he was a member of the Grant County Honor Band, Senior Advisory Band, Indiana All-State Band, National and Indiana FFA Bands, and also was a drum major for the Madison-Grant High School marching band. He was a member of the American Musical Ambassador Band, traveling all over Europe. He was a member of the National Honor Society, a delegate to the Hoosier Boys State, a State Officer for Young Farmers of Indiana, and he held multiple offices for the FFA. He was also a member of Squadron 95 of Sons of the American Legion in Jonesboro. Gregg enjoyed golfing, shooting pool, any and all music, especially big bands, and most of all, spending time with his grand kids. In his younger years, he competed in roller skating, winning multiple awards and medals, and loved spending time at the lake with his family, boating and water skiing. Gregg is survived by his parents, Mark and Mary Louise, Elwood; children, Kammi Cloud, Fairmount, Desiree (David) Tolson, Noblesville, Cameron (Laura) Marine, Greentown, and Kyle Marine, Marion; grandchildren, Ariana and Colton Tolson, and Landen, Teeghan, and Maribelle Marine; sister, Gemia (Scot) Davis, Fairmount; niece, Devina (Jordan) Conner, Chesterton; great-niece, Chloie Conner; aunts, Verna (Ronald) Dailey, Fairmount, Nancy (William II) Carpenter, FL, and Judy Simpson, Alexandria, as well as, many close cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Richard and Chloie Bruner, and Frank and Wilma Marine, and his son-in-law, Curtis Cloud. Arrangements for Gregg have been entrusted to the Fairmount Chapel of Armes-Hunt Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 415 South Main Street, where a visitation will be held on Friday, March 13, 2020, from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. An American Legion Walkthrough will take place at 6:00 p.m., followed by the funeral service.
