She was a graduate of J.L. Cook High School class of 1962, and a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church in Athens, TN. She was a retiree from Thomas and Betts Corporaton after 40 plus years. She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Dorothy (Witt) McDermott. Two brothers, James Edward “Jim” McDermott, and Erbie Melton “Sam” McDermott. One sister, Helen “Sue” Edmonds. Survivors include her children, Tamela Lynn Collier-Brown of Chattanooga, TN., Ronald Rufus Collier III “Ronnie” of Athens, TN. , and Kenny (Tammy) McDermott of Foley, Al. Granddaughter, Erynn-Elizabeth Anna Brown of Chattanooga, TN. Grandsons, Eric Lajuan Brown Jr. of Chattanooga, TN., Devin Chance (Kelsie) Collier of Fort Hood, Texas, and Courtland Bartley Davis of Coker Creek, TN. Step-grandson, Korbin Hester of Fort Hood, Texas. Soon to arrive ( in Jan.)great-granddaughter Kynlee Elizabeth Collier, and step-greatgrandson, Korbin Hester of Fort Hood, Texas Sisters, Odessa (Johnny) Jones of Wilbraham, MA., Alice “Shuly” Oliver of Athens, TN., and Carol (Wincie) McDaniel. Three brothers, Pastor Leuty McDermott of Riceville, TN., Kenneth “Bub” (Charlesetta) McDermott of Athens, TN., and Webster “Buck” McDermott of Athens, TN. One uncle, Burkett Witt of Athens, TN. A special friend and devoted niece, Effie King. Special friends, Maxine Weston, Helen McMahan and Loretta Bivens, and a numerous amount of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 12:00 noon in the chapel of M.D. Dotson & Sons Funeral Home with Rev. Leuty McDermott officiating. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home form 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Interment will follow at Hammonds Cemetery in Athens, Tn.
