December 13 1930 January 31 2020
Vincent James Lazzaro, Jr., was born December 13th, 1930, as the youngest child to a South Philly family of six children. After growing his head of signature black curls, he graduated from Southeast Catholic Highschool and enlisted in the U.S. Navy just prior to the Korean War. He served for four years before his honorable discharge in 1952, still without his sea legs. He attended Temple and Drexel University to study accounting. Having written letters back and forth for all those years, in June of 1956, he married his South Philly neighborhood sweetheart, Vivian Giannetti. They have lived happily wed for the last 63 years in their home (Blackwood, NJ). For 30 years Vincent worked as a dispatch supervisor for PECO, but his full-time job was fathering three wild children; Valerie, Vincent, and Mark. He was a devoted, patient husband, and a phenomenal father and mentor. He later in life became a grandfather to three lucky grandchildren; Mia, the daughter of his son Vince (wife, Trudy) and Brittany & Elysia, the daughters of his son Mark (wife, Jackie). He was the best grandfather this world has ever seen (as told by his grandchildren). He was preceded in death by his daughter Valerie, in 2015, and has now been able to reunite with her since his passing at age 89. Vincent never missed an opportunity to make someone smile, as his wit and humor were unmatched (as told by Vincent himself). He loved dancing with his wife, traveling whenever he could, and finishing his daily crossword puzzle. But above all else, he loved, and is loved, deeply. Viewing will be Friday, February 7, 2020, 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM at the Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012. His Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Hope Parish/St. Jude’s Church, 402 S. Black Horse Pike, Blackwood, NJ 08012. Entombment at St. Joseph’s Cemetery Mausoleum with military honors will take place after the Mass. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory would be appreciated to Our Lady of Hope Parish for the construction of the new Blessed Mother Grotto.
