Roger’s Obituary Roger “Rog” Wiese was born to Ralph and Arlene (Storevik) Wiese October 21, 1942 in Viborg, South Dakota. He entered into his eternal home February 24, 2020 at the Hospice Cottage in Sioux Falls, SD with his family by his side. He was raised and worked the family farm until 1984. He went to Country School through eighth grade and graduated from Centerville High School in 1960. He went on to attend Nettleton College and SDSU. Rog married his sweetheart, Glenda Swanson, on October 14, 1967 and two sons were born into this union, Jay Roger In 1970 and Travis Jonathon in 1974. He enjoyed farming and raising cattle; Rog built and operated The Desert Inn Bar in Centerville for 12 years. He worked as a machinist at IBP in Dakota City for 20 years and got his Real Estate license at the age of 66. Rog loved fishing, hunting, card games, and fun with family and friends. His favorite times of life were teaching his sons how to hunt and fish; and his granddaughter, Leah, how to fish and play cards. The nineteen summers at their cabin on Big Stone Lake fishing and spending time and pulling pranks with friends brought great joy to him – but, the best moments of all were sitting at the end of the dock fishing with Leah. Travel was a very special part of his life and the many trips all around the US, Canada and Mexico with Glenda by his side were special adventures for both of them. Those memories have been, and will be, treasured through the years. They just returned from their last adventure on February 15th where he had wanted to see the Black Hills, the mountains, the desert and gamble in Laughlin, NV one last time – and he made it! If he was your friend, he always had your back – and he had lots of friends. He is survived by his loving wife, Glenda, of 52 years; his son, Travis (Wendy); granddaughter, Leah Wiese; step-granddaughters, Shalee (Preston) Stevens and Chelsey (Jesse) Klement; great-grands, Preslee, Harlow and Hank; sisters, Peggy, Mary and Kathy; several nieces and nephews and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Jay; his parents, and many relatives and special friends that were waiting at Heaven’s gate to welcome him Home. Read More
