Obituary Michael “Roadie” Edward O’Neil, 62, of Winona passed away February 12, 2020, at Gundersen Health System Hospital in La Crosse. He was born February 7, 1958, to Leo and Margaret “Peggy” O’Neil in Rochester, MN. He attended school at Saint Stan’s and graduated from Cochrane-Fountain City in 1976. He worked as a bouncer, bartender, band roadie, in road construction, and in trucking throughout the years. He loved Harley-Davidson motorcycles and would ride any and everywhere that he could, including trips to Sturgis. Roadie was always the life of the party! He could make any situation fun, would do anything for his friends, and he had an amazing personality. He was known as the gentle giant and everyone that knew him absolutely loved him. He suffered from a debilitating stroke in 2011 that took a toll on his body but his amazing personality remained. He will be missed by everyone that knew him. He is preceded in death by his father, Leo and many good friends. He is survived by his mother Peggy O’Neil; his brother Larry (Suzanne) O’Neil; extended family Melissa and Zach Lynn and kids, “Crazy” Phil (Rose) Wernert; and numerous friends. Special thanks to the staff at Catholic Charities and Sauer Health Care that helped take care of him. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until the funeral service at 11 AM on Saturday, February 15, 2020, at the Watkowski-Mulyck Funeral Home. There will be a luncheon after the service at the Winona American Legion Club, 302 East Sarnia Street. His final resting place will be at his family plot in Simpson, MN, in the spring.
