Ms. Marcelle Janice Bates, age 88, of Guntersville and formerly of Joppa, Alabama passed this life on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Barfield Health Care. Ms. Bates was born in the beautiful Blount County on April 8, 1931 to the late Ernest Generd Hyde and Nora Estelle Walker Hyde. She retired as an office administrator clerk for New York Life. Marcelle had many hobbies that include; reading, traveling and loving on her cat – Missy. Marcelle attended North Side Baptist Church in Guntersville and was a member at New Life Assembly of God in Arab. Ms. Marcelle is survived by her brother, Larry Hyde; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Bates is preceded in death by her brothers, James Edward Hyde and Wayne Hyde; sisters, Nellie Hyde Payalock and Faye Schrimsher. A visitation to remember Ms. Marcelle will be held at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Monday, February 10, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Funeral services for Ms. Bates will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 10, 2020 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with burial to follow at New Cannan Cemetery with Bro.
