Obituary Grace Bailey Truitt, 96, formerly of West Lake Road, died Tuesday morning January 10, 2012 following an extended illness. A resident of Erie all of her life she was born in Pittsburgh, PA on June 11, 1915 a daughter of the late George B. and Florence C. McGahan Bailey. Grace was a graduate of Lawrence Park High School and went on to work for the G.E. as a secretary for nearly 40 years. She was a former member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Girard and enjoyed reading and traveling. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Conrad J. Truitt; two brothers, George “Gus” Bailey and Howard C. Bailey; and one sister, Florence Spampani. Survivors include one sister, Virginia Nichols of Erie; one brother, Walter J. Bailey of Michigan; and many nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road, on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to a prayer service there on Friday morning at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m.. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to the Humane Society of Northwestern PA, P.O. Box 3930, Erie, 16508.
