Freddie’s Obituary When Freddie Lee Owens was born on October 14, 1940, he was blessed with God fearing parents; Gee and Maegirtha Dailey Owens who, by example, taught Christian values, integrity and ingenuity that resulted in a solid and caring family environment. His parents were highly respected among friends and neighbors in “Harmony”. They taught him “a good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.” “Freddie Lee” as he was often called grew up to be a handsome and intelligent young man. He accepted Christ at a young age and was a life-long member of Harmony Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 1959 graduate of the Sparkman, Training School. He worked as a logger for 30 years with the Hunter Wasson Logging Company. Freddie Lee was a role model and father-figure to many. He taught a lot of “young men” how to be a man. He practiced kindness, respect of self and others. By all accounts he was a “jack of all trades”, but his passion was hunting. He was a true outdoorsman and a lover of all sports. When not glued to the tv watching his favorite team, he was out hunting or fishing. He was a founding member of the Owens Hunting Club. Freddie Lee was a very friendly man; though tall in stature he had a tender heart. He “meant what he said” and “said what he meant.” His natural wit and humor could never be duplicated. His passing leaves a great void in the lives of those who knew and loved him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gee and Maegirtha Dailey Owens; a son, Ronald Owens; siblings, Carl F. Owens, Alfred G. Owens and Dorethia Newburn. He leaves his children, Gwen Owens of Atlanta, GA, Tim (Mechille) Owens of Little Rock, AR, Donna (Richard) Milton of Crossett, AR, Bryan (LaShowndra) Green of Detroit, MI, Kirk (Carolyn) Owens of Arkadelphia and Joshua “Josh” Newburn of ARkadelphia; eleven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, his siblings, Carlton U. Owens of Warren, AR, Geneva Owens Hunter (Warren) of Gum Springs, AR, Darlene Owens Jones (Thomas) of Gurdon, AR, and Marilyn Fern Owens of Sherwood, AR, one sister-in-law, Lillie Owens of Jacksonville, AR; two aunts, Margaret Temple of Little Rock, AR and Daisy Dailey of Kansas City, MO. A special nephew and caregiver, Greg Owens; a special cousin, Charlie James Owens and a special friend, Ray Wrather. He also leaves a multitude of nieces, nephews, as well as other relatives and many, many friends. Public visitation will be Friday, February 7, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home.
