Ernest J. Hertler of Sicklerville, NJ, passed peacefully on February 15, 2020 at the age of 79 years. Beloved husband of Barbara Hertler (nee Sichort). Devoted father of Debi Hertler-Uron, Meredith Arnold (Jim), and Joseph Hertler (and his family). Proud grandfather of Andrew DiPiazza (Tony), Justice Uron, Hannah Uron, Noah Uron, Tristan Arnold, Lydia Arnold, Nadia Arnold, and Katrina Arnold. Dear brother of Barbara Goodwin (the late Joe), Rose Crisanti (Paul), Betty Hertler, Richard Hertler, Albert Hertler, and Teri Hertler. Ernest is also survived by his side kick and sweet little girl, his beagle, Jessi Beth, as well as several nieces and nephews. Ernest was a former member of the Lambs Terrace Fire Company where he joined in his teens as a junior fireman. He went on to serve his Country in the United States Navy for four years. Upon returning home, he began working as an electrical supervisor at the United States Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, PA, where he worked tirelessly right up to the closing of its gates in 1995. Ernest was also a former member of the Erial Ambulance Squad. He worked for fifteen years as a bus driver for Gloucester Township Public Schools. He was a member of the Stetser Lamartine American Legion Post 281. He served the Lord for many years as a member of Lambs Road Assembly. He was currently worshipping at Calvary Chapel Gloucester County. Ernest was a man of great faith and lived to worship and serve his Lord and Saviour. God blessed his family with a strong, supportive, merciful, and kind man who gave of himself endlessly and was loved beyond words in return. Ernest was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He had a deep passion for his beautiful mountain top in West Virginia, which was heaven on earth to him. Viewings will be Wednesday, February 19, 2020 from 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM and Thursday, February 20, 2020 from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM, both at Earle Funeral Home, 122 W. Church St., Blackwood, NJ 08012, where a funeral service will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 10:30 AM. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Sewell, NJ.
