Deanna “Missy” Michelle Treu, 51, of Jefferson City, Missouri passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at her home. She was born on December 19, 1968 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri; a daughter of Michael and Gina (Wilson) Scallorns. She was united in marriage to John Treu, May 26, 1990, in Cape Girardeau. Missy graduated from New Smyrna Beach High School in New Smyrna, Florida. She graduated Stephens College with a Bachelor in Political Science and went on to get her Masters in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Missouri-Columbia. Missy was the Director of Training and Development for the Department of Natural Resources for many years. She also worked for social services. She educated numerous adults in professional development. Missy was an active member of the Boy Scouts and received 7 mentor pins from various Eagle Scouts. She enjoyed reading, cats, and going to the beach. One of Missy’s favorite things to do was to listen to her son sing and watch movies with him. Most of all, Missy treasured the memories created with family. She dearly loved her momma Gina Reid and Bill Grannis, and in-laws, Rosemary (deceased) and Bill Treu. She is survived by her husband: John Treu; son: Jack Treu (Kristin Steinbrueck); parents: Michael Scallorns and Gina Reid (Bill Grannis); grandmother: Betty Wilson; brothers: Michael Scallorns and John Grannis; sisters: Tammy Hirsch and Melody Scallorns and numerous aunts, uncles, sister and brother in-laws, nieces and nephews. Missy is preceded in death by her grandparents: Joe Wilson, Chester and Mable Scallorns; brother: Richard Grannis. Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 6, 2020 at Houser-Millard Funeral Directors in Jefferson City, Missouri with prayer service at 5:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 7, 2020 at St. Peter Catholic Church, in Jefferson City, Missouri with Fr. Secrist officiating. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery located in Lenexa, Kansas. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Jefferson City Animal Shelter.
