Obituary On Monday, February 24th, 2020, Bertha Cantu, entered into eternal rest and into the arms of our Lord at the age of 61. A McAllen native, Bertha was born on December 31, 1958 to parents Roberto F. and Raquel I. Olivarez. She attended McAllen High School and graduated in 1981. She married her longtime friend and love, Thomas A. Cantu, on August of 1996. Bertha was a loving wife, daughter,sister, aunt, great aunt and friend. She had a generous spirit with a huge heart. She was a lover of life and lived each day to the fullest. Her passions included traveling, cooking, fishing, dancing, singing Karaoke and spending quality time with family and friends. Bertha was preceded in death by her father Roberto F. Olivarez. She will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 24 years, Thomas A. Cantu, her mother Mrs. Raquel I. Olivarez, her sister Judith E. Sanchez (Joe), and brother Roberto Olivarez Jr. (Maria). Bertha, a.k.a. “Honey Bee” will fondly be remembered by her many cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives and dear friends who loved her dearly. A gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, February 27, 2020 at Rivera Funeral Home Chapel of Remembrance,1901 Pecan Blvd. in McAllen from 10:30 am thru 12:00 pm. A celebration of life service will begin at 12:30 p.m. Followed by the Interment at 2:00 p.m. at Rio Grande Veterans Cemetery, at 2520 Inspiration Rd.
