Wilbur’s Obituary Wilbur Hohbach, 89, of Marcus, Iowa, flew West on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at the Heartland Care Center in Marcus. Visitation with the family present will be from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 23, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Le Mars. There will be a private family service with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee, Iowa. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com. Wilbur Thomas Hohbach was born on May 31, 1930 to Fred and Ruth (Case) Hohbach in Cherokee County, Iowa. He attended Tilden Township country school and graduated from Marcus High School in 1948. Willie began farming after graduation with his father; they grew crops and raised cattle and hogs. Willie enlisted in the United States Navy on February 27, 1951, and served two tours in Korea before he was honorably discharged on February 26, 1955. After being discharged, he returned to rural Marcus and continued farming. He was united in marriage to Ardith Ann Oliver on March 17, 1962. They made their home on the farm until Ardith passed away in 2012. Willie later moved to the Heartland Care Center in Marcus in 2013. Willie was a lifelong farmer and loved living and working on the farm. He was also a pilot and received his pilot’s license on December 17, 1968. He co-owned two separate planes and he went to many flight shows and flight breakfasts with his children around Northwest Iowa over the years. Willie is survived by his children: Oliver (Jean) Hohbach of Valley Springs, South Dakota, Tom (Peg) Hohbach of Marcus, Iowa, Cyrus Hohbach of Yankton, South Dakota, and Ardith Hohbach of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren: Eli Hohbach, Sophie Hohbach, and Devan Hohbach; sisters: Phyllis Cuthrell, Lorna Schroeder, and Betty Gross; and nieces, nephews, and other extended relatives. Willie is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Ardith; sister, Velma (Ronald) Townsend; and brothers in law: Burnell Schroeder and Bill Gross. Read More
