Tammie Kay Gates, age 60, of Bluff City, Tenn., passed away on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at her residence in Bluff City, Tenn. She was born on April 15, 1959 in Damascus, Va., a daughter of the late Henry Earl Miller and Geneva Irene Forrester. Tammie was a free spirit. She had a huge heart and would do anything for anyone. She loved animals, music, her family, and was super proud of her grandson, Landon. We are deeply saddened that her life was cut so short and that she missed out on so many of life’s great adventures. We know that God will watch over her now and her pain is forever gone. She is finally free and at peace and we will all see her again soon. It’s not “goodbye”, but is rather “see you later.” She is survived by her soulmate and best friend/family friend, Edmond Barner; son, Bryan Callahan; grandson, Landon Callahan; brother, Gary Miller; and sisters, Janet Arnold and Janice McGee. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home in Bristol, Tenn. A Memorial Service will follow at 7:00 pm with Pastor Steve Playl officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to her soulmate, Edmond Barner. The family would like to extend special thanks to Oakley-Cook Funeral Home for their kind services and for working with the family through this difficult time. Arrangements especially for Tammie and her family have been made through Oakley-Cook Funeral Home & Crematory.
