Obituary Roy Charles Hummell, 72, of Danville, died Friday, January 3, 2020, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. Born June 30, 1947, in Mt. Pleasant, he was the son of James and Flora Long Hummell. On May 30, 1983, he married Janet Nau in New London. He was a utility operator at DAK American. He enjoyed watching a variety of movies, including John Wayne, Star Wars, Harry Potter, and The Hunger Games. He collected many things, including models and comics. He enjoyed listening to Oldies and Elvis music and had a soft spot for animals. Survivors include his wife, Janet of Danville; one son, Chris (Stacey) Hummell of Green Bay, WI; one daughter, Angela (Paul Abendroth) Hummell of Appleton, WI; two step-children, Linda (Allen) Welch of Middletown and Steve (Teri) Beckman of Danville; seven grandchildren, Courtney Hummell, Phillip Hummell, Sydney Hummell, Amy Schroeder, Leland Schroeder, Spencer Abendroth, and Austin Abendroth; five step-grandchildren, Bailey Beckman, Lauren Beckman, Carlea Beckman, Garrett Beckman, and Cody Welch; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, sisters, and one son, Leland. Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory. The family will have a private gathering.
