Obituary Richard Dawson Jr., 90 of Benton Harbor departed his life January 22, 2020. Richard was born September 17, 1929 in Folsom, LA to the late Richard and Rose Bickham Dawson Sr. He left school at the age of 9 to help support his parents. Richard was untied in Matrimony with Eraie Mae James and relocated to Michigan in 1951. He was employed as a personal aide to Senator, Harry Litswick and latter employed for twenty-five years by National Motors of South Haven. Richard accepted Christ at a young age and was devoted to church for many years. Richard leaves to cherish his memory his children, Robert and Florine Dawson; grandchildren, Thersa Dawson of South Bend, IN, Richard Charles Dawson of Grand Rapids, MI, Terrance Dawson, MI, Moshe Iron, Battle Creek, MI, Shaun Dawson, Battle Creek, MI; fifteen great grandchildren; nephews, Bob Brown, Calvin Brown and Elliott West. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Rosa Dawson; sister, Velma West; grandson, Todd Austin. To send flowers to Richard’s family, please visit our floral section.
