Obituary Peggy Horner Simpson, age 67, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2020 at NHC Health Care Center in Farragut after suffering multiple strokes. Known for her radiant smile, sparkling blue eyes and generous nature, Peggy was a dear friend to many and a stranger to none. Her vivacious attitude toward life earned her the affectionate nickname “Trixie,” which suited her personality perfectly. Born in Knoxville on December 2, 1952, Peggy graduated from South Young High School in 1970. For many years, she served as an active member of her high school reunion committee. She was always thrilled to reconnect with her former classmates and old friends. She spent the majority of her working career in Oak Ridge as an administrative assistant in the ORNL and Y-12 Engineering and Six Sigma organizations. After more than thirty years of faithful service, Peggy retired from BWXT Y-12 in 2007. Peggy is preceded in death by parents, Eugene and Christine Horner, and sister Nancy Lay. She is survived by her husband, Danny Simpson; brother, Bob Horner; step-daughter Cherie (Brent) Jump; step-daughter Lori (Jason) Moreland; and grandchildren Hailey Moreland, Avannah , and Brody Jump. Peggy also leaves behind her devoted friend Wanda Greene, who is also great-grandmother to Hailey, Avannah, and Brody. Additionally, a plethora of other relatives, friends and acquaintances grieve with the family at the loss of this very special person. The family would like to thank the doctors and nursing staff at NHC Farragut for the outstanding care they provided to Peggy, especially her nurses and caregivers of the second floor. As in life, Peggy chose to serve others by donating her remains to medical science. No funeral service will be held at this time. However, in accordance with Peggy’s final wishes, a private event will be held in the near future to joyfully celebrate her life.
