Margarita Cruz, a longtime Beacon resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on January 16, 2020 at the Kaplan Family Hospice Residence, Newburgh. She was 51 years old. Margarita was born on May 31, 1968 in New York City the daughter of Andrea Vasquez of Beacon and the late Luis F. Cruz. Maggie cherished her children and grandchildren and would do anything for them. She was a great cook who loved to prepare meals for her family. She also had a great sense of humor. In addition to her mother, Maggie is survived by her children, Luis Manuel Oquendo, Keyshla Oquendo and husband, Ariel Sosa and Luis Edgardo Perdomo; her grandchildren, Yareliz, Nayali and Yariel Sosa, Jaylinda Oquendo, Abimael Pinero, Abisael Ayalla and Evisiel Ayalla; her brothers, Ricardo Cruz, Tommy Cruz and Johnny Cruz; her sisters, Evelyn Cruz, Carmen Rodriguez and Iris Cruz; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to her father, Maggie was predeceased by her daughter, Andrea Oquendo in 2017; her brother, Luis F. Cruz in 1994; her nephews, Joseph Pantojas in 2018 and Pedro Pacheco in 2019. Family and friends will be received on Monday, January 20 from 5 to 9 p.m. at Riverview Funeral Home by Halvey, 2 Beekman Street, Beacon. A funeral service will be held at 8 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ricardo Pacheco officiating.
