Marcia’s Obituary Marcia Rhoads Brantley of Texarkana, Texas passed away on January 28, 2020 at the age of 89. She was born in Batesville, AR on September 25 to Lester and Della Hemme Rhoads. She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandson, Grant Jordan Meek, her brother Donald Rhoads, and an infant sister, Lillian Monette Rhoads. Survivors are her son, Fred Brantley and his wife Helen of Texarkana, daughter, Anita and her husband, Robert of Cave Springs, AR, five grandchildren, Caleb Brantley (Laurel), Jacob Brantley (Sandy), Hannah Brantley, Ashley Meek, and Whitney Meek. Two sisters-in-law also survive her, Peggy Rhoads and Marie Brantley. Marcia spent much of her childhood in Arkadelphia, AR where she graduated from high school. She then attended OBU for a time. She then moved to El Dorado with her parents. She went to work at the former National Bank of Commerce where she worked for over 35 years. She enjoyed working in the bank.After moving to El Dorado, she met the love of her life, Jack Brantley. They married in 1950 and lived in El Dorado for 68 years. She moved to Texarkana after Jack passed away. She resided with her son, Fred and his wife Helen. They were wonderful caregivers to her. Marcia enjoyed doing many things. She loved working in her yard. She said it was therapy for her. She enjoyed watching birds and especially hummingbirds. Fishing was one of her interests. Finding a bream bed and catching them would make her day. She was a member of East Faulkner Church of Christ. She dearly loved her church family. Serving the Lord with them was very special to her. Graveside services will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at the Antioch Church of Christ Cemetery near Spearsville, LA. A light lunch and visitation will be at the East Faulkner Church of Christ from 12:30 to 2:30. Everyone is invited to have lunch and visit with the family. Honorary pallbearers are Caleb Brantley, Jacob Brantley, Hannah Brantley, Ashley Meek, and Whitney Meek. Memorials made be made to Arkansas Children’s Hospital or the East Faulkner Church of Christ.
