Mrs. Mae Etta Shannon Madison was born to the late Clarence Shannon Sr. and Dallas Shuler Shannon on July 2, 1942, in Pinewood, SC. She departed this earthly life on Monday afternoon, January 27, 2020 at Prisma Health Tuomey Hospital in Sumter, SC. She attended the public schools of Sumter County. She was reared in a Christian home and accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Savior and became a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, and served as a faithful member. As the cornerstone of her family, Mrs. Madison was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and friend; and she will be missed dearly. She was loved and respected for her soft spoken and friendly nature. She loved her family and enjoyed shopping, cooking, and baking. She was known for her famous seven layer chocolate cake. She was united in holy matrimony to George Lee “Boobie” Madison Jr. and to this loving union they were blessed with eight children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson Thomas Martell Madison; five brothers, Arthur Shannon, James Shannon, Albertus “Bert” Shannon, Walter “WB” Shannon, and Clarence” CJ” Shannon Jr.; two sisters, Victoria Wilson and Louise Knox; and two daughters-in-law; Joann Brown Madison and Annie Jackson Shannon. She leaves to cherish precious memories, her loving and devoted husband of sixty years George Lee “Boobie” Madison Jr., of the home; five daughters, Georgia (Harden) Madison-Lewis and Loretta Madison of Pinewood, SC; Susie (Edward) White of Columbia, SC; Barbara Jean Madison of New York, NY, and Ashley Madison of Charlotte, NC; three sons, William (Aletha) Shannon and Leroy (Maxine) Madison of Pinewood, SC; and Louis (Christine) Madison of Sumter, SC; one grandchild reared in the home, Kamiya Gooden; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Mazie Shannon of Pinewood, Lillie Madison White of Sumter, SC, and Mary Louise Madison of Richmond, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
