Kenneth Alan Lloyd May 04, 1961 – January 10, 2020 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Alan Lloyd, 58, of Burlington passed away Friday, January 10, 2020, at Newman Hospital in Emporia. He was born Kenneth Alan Lloyd on May 4, 1961, in Burlington the son of Kenneth Augustine Lloyd and Phyllis J. Skillman Lloyd. In 1966, his mother married Floyd Hess Sr. and combined two families consisting of four boys. A baby sister was welcomed into the family. Following his school days in Burlington, Alan worked at various jobs. Alan attained the nickname of “Bubbles” which stuck with him throughout his life. On November 19, 1983, Alan and Lori Francene Porter of Garnett were married at the Christian Church in Burlington. They became the parents of three girls, Brandi, Shauni and Kendra. The family lived in Garnett where Alan was a heavy equipment operator for Tom Adams Construction, Fred Boyles Construction and Amino Brothers. He also had been employed by Hunt Midwest Quarries and had his own welding business. Due to failing health, Alan became disabled and battled diabetes and suffered a heart attack. Alan was a very creative person. He could build whatever he had a vision of from welding, carpentry, mechanics, leather and sewing. His favorite pastime was working on his truck and his Harley motorcycle. His family, especially his grandchildren, was his biggest joy in life. Alan is survived by his wife, Lori, of the home, daughters Brandi Lloyd and husband Christepher Bowen; Shauni Cavallo and husband Jon of Overland Park and Kendra Ivey and husband Dylan of Baldwin. Grandchildren Addyson and Lars Van Patten, Jace Krout and Wyatt Lloyd. His mother, Phyllis Bachman of Burlington, a sister Julie Young and husband Mike of Edgerton and brothers Vernon Hess of Burlington and Floyd Hess Jr and wife Rhonda of Lee’s Summit. Mo. Other survivors include uncle, Roy Skillman and aunt and uncle Judy and Philip Stukey of Burlington along with several nieces, nephews, many cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother David Lloyd, grandparents Oliver and Maxine Skillman, step-father Floyd Hess, a granddaughter Alexis Bowen, sister-in-law Eva Hess and cousin Patrick Stukey. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Alan’s Life will be held from Noon until 4:00 P.M. Saturday, January 25, 2020 at Kelley Hall in Burlington. Family and friends are invited to leave for Stringtown Cemetery, northeast of Burlington, at 4:00 P.M. for a graveside service. In lieu of flowers, memorial funds to help defray funeral expenses can be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, PO Box 277, Burlington, Ks 66839.
