Obituary Joan Lind, 92, died Tuesday, December 24, 2019 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Our House, Wausau. Joan was born August 3, 1927 in Champagne, IL, daughter of the late Theron and Geraldine (Mellor) Rewerts. She attended high school in Danville, IL, graduating in 1945. On June 3rd, 1949 Joan married her husband of 59 years, Richard Lind in Danville, IL. He preceded her in death in 2008. For many years Joan worked in the accounting department at the General Motors plant in Illinois. Joan was a vibrant, energetic and fun-loving spirit who enjoyed being active and spontaneous. An accomplished golfer, Joan earned the distinction of being one of the few to achieve not one, but four holes in one! She was also involved in curling and used her sewing talents to make jackets for her curling team. She loved playing bridge, mahjong, poker, and BINGO. Joan had a creative flair and found great pleasure in beautifying her surroundings through painting and wallpapering. Dogs were always an important and much-loved part of Joan’s life. Joan is survived by her son Steve (Kristina) Lind, Whippany, N.J., daughter Lisa (Pat) Scobell, Wausau and her grandchildren, Ryan Lind, Stephanie (Tommy) Seramba and Mitchell Scobell. Besides her husband and her parents, Joan was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack and Gene Rewerts and a son, Tim Lind. Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2019 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth St., Wausau. Rev. Niveen Sarras will officiate. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marathon County Humane Society or the Salvation Army.
