Edna Peck, age 94, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019, surrounded by her family. Edna Marie Morris was born on December 16, 1925, in rural Galesburg, Kansas. She was the first of nine children born to James Oliver and Josephine (Dawson) Morris. Edna grew up in the Stark and Porterville area, attending country schools. In 1943 Edna married Kenneth Raney, their union was blessed with three children, Marie, Robert and Gary. They made their home in Erie and Chanute until divorcing in 1966. Edna later married Albert Smoot, one daughter, Carol, was born to this union in 1971. They made their home in Iola. Albert passed away due to cancer in 1972. On January 18, 1975, Edna married Buford Peck. Edna was able to be home with her children while they were growing up. She also took on sewing and alterations from home, until her stroke on March 6, 2011. Buford passed away November 30, 2012. Following Buford’s death she moved to Wichita, living with Marie and Gary. Edna’s family was her greatest joy. She was an avid bowler for over 60 years and served as the secretary/treasurer of the Iola Bowling Association. Edna was also active in the VFW Auxiliary and the Order of Eastern Star. She also enjoyed many nights of playing BINGO while Buford called the game. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Donnie, Jim, and Larry Morris; one sister, Mary Lou Holman; one step-daughter, Debra Peck; and one step-son, Melvin Dean Smoot. She is survived by her four children and Albert and Buford’s children who she loved as her own, Marie Toews and husband, Merle, Robert Raney and wife, Barbara, Gary Raney and wife, Barbara, Carol Feagins and husband, Tim, Doug Peck and wife, Cindy, Marilyn Leigh and husband, Glade, Lucinda Stanley and husband, Paul, Rhodenia Rowe and husband, Pat, Lavina Chambers and husband, Jerry; 27 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild; brother, Kenneth Morris; three sisters, Lois Slater, Betty Eytcheson, Lorene Butler; four sisters-in-law, Shirley Peck, Aleta Flaherty and husband, David, Shirley LeRoy, and Marcella Smoot. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 3, 2020, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, Iola, Kansas. Burial will follow in the LaHarpe Cemetery, LaHarpe, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday evening in The Venue at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association and may be left with the funeral home.
