Beverly J. Harding, age 85, a long-time resident of Millville, died on Saturday, January 4, 2020, at the Geisinger Medical Center, Danville. Beverly was born on Friday, June 29, 1934 in Antes Fort, Pennsylvania, a daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Sechler) Dougherty. Throughout her younger years, Beverly attended the Hughesville area schools, and later graduated from the Hughesville High School in 1952. On February 28, 1953, Beverly married her loving husband, George L. “Sam” Harding. For many years, Beverly was a cashier at K & K Market on the square of Millville. She then was employed by M & T Bank as a teller until her retirement in 2001. She was awarded Teller of the Month numerous times as well as Teller of the Year. Beverly was a member of the Mill Green United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the former Millville Women’s Civic Club and she also served with Columbia County Board of Election at Millville polling place. Beverly especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and canning her husband’s garden produce. She was also an avid reader. She was “Mimi” to 8 grandchildren and was known as “Bebs” to her siblings. She was a kind and generous woman whose motto was “There is always room for one more at the table.” In addition to her parents, Beverly was preceded by daughter, Sandra L. Wright and siblings: Etta Mae Dougherty, Ralph E. Dougherty, Jr., Dale G. Dougherty, Newton Paul Dougherty, Larry Dougherty and Donna J. Burger. Survivors include her beloved husband of 66 years, “Sam” Harding, children: Christine L. Hess and companion, Sam Rumberger, of Bloomsburg, Steve L. Harding of Bloomsburg, Diane M. Rider and husband, Don, of Millville, Tyler W. Harding and wife, Trina Cardell, of Bloomsburg; son in law: Steven Wright of Bloomsburg; grandchildren: Lauren Harding, Natalie Hess, Darren Rider, Danielle Roeder and husband, Levi, Jocelyn Wright and husband, Tommy Novack, Tristan Wright, Cole Harding, Evan Harding, and siblings: Mary E. Zeisloft of Winter Garden, Ted M. Dougherty and wife, Lana, of Montoursville, William E. Dougherty and wife Rosemary of Cogan Station, Susan E. Wolfe and husband, John, of Muncy, Cathy M. Mitstifer and husband, Lee, of Trout Run and Sherry J. Cotner and husband, Jim, of East Stroudsburg. A time of Visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday morning, January 11, 2020 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at the Mill Green United Methodist Church, 75 South State Street, Millville. Funeral Services will begin on Saturday morning, January 11, 2020 at 11:00 am at the Mill Green United Methodist Church, with her pastor, Rev. Robert W. Strozyk, officiating. Graveside committal services will immediately follow in the Millville Cemetery.
