Betty Doris Hammonds, of the Campground Community of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020, at Johnson City Medical Center. She was saved at an early age and attended Faith Baptist Church as long as her health permitted. She was a C&P Telephone Operator for many years and had retired from IGA of Jonesville. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Ethel Turner, of Rose Hill, VA. Doris is survived by her husband of 44 years, Jerry Hammonds; four brothers, Darrell Turner and his wife Linda, of Villa Rica, GA, Durward Turner and his wife Glinda, of Dallas, GA, Desmond Turner and his wife Tish, of Stockbridge, GA, and Dale Turner, of Rose Hill, VA; aunt, Kathy Davis, of Morristown, TN; sister-in-law, Teresa Smith of Jonesville, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, January 9, at Robinette Funeral Home in Jonesville. The funeral service will follow at 8:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Davis Jr. and Rev. Durward Turner officiating. The graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 10, at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, VA. Those who wish may meet at the funeral home by 1:30 p.m. to travel in procession to the cemetery.
