Raymond “Bud”‘s Obituary Raymond “Bud” Michel, 82, passed away December 7, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center in Ashland, Wi. Raymond was born on July 2, 1937 to Bernard and Irma (Gilgen) Michel in Mellen, WI. Raymond attended Mellen High School and graduated in 1956. On July 12, 1958, he was united in marriage to Janice Katon in Highbridge, WI. After High School, Ray started out in his family’s logging business and worked for a short period as a cook on the boats on the Great Lakes. He then worked at a Mellen Stone Quarry. He began his career and worked as a lineman at Lake Superior District Power Company in 1966 until his retirement in 1991. After his retirement, Raymond and Janice purchased a cabin on Lake Namakagon and spent many enjoyable summers there. He enjoyed vegetable gardening at the lake, as well as fishing, and partridge hunting. Survivors include his wife, Janice; son, Randal (Theresa) of Mason; granddaughter, Jacqueline (Mark Olszewski) Michel of Gainesville, FL; twin brother, Richard (Shirley) Michel; brother, David (Karen) Michel; and sister Carol (Richard) Warren, all of Mellen, WI; Brother In Law, John (Linda) Thompson of Mellen, WI; Many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Irma Michel; Sister, Sharon (Michel) Thompson; Sister In Law, Delores Michel. A Memorial Service will be held at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mellen on Wednesday, December 11, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with a gathering of family and friends starting at 10:00 a.m. Pastor Karl Wellnitz will be officiating. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mellen.
