August 3 1950 December 4 2019
Presley J. Carney of Hartly, Delaware and formerly of Bridgeton, passed away early Wednesday morning December 4, 2019 in the Delaware Hospice Center, Milford after a long courageous battle with colon cancer, his family was by his side. He was 69 years old. Born in Cedarville, NJ on August 3, 1950, Presley was the son of the late Herbert and Tressa (nee Street) Carney. He has been a resident of the Delaware area for the past six years. Presley grew up in Millsboro, DE and Bridgeton area and was formerly employed with the former Owens Illinois Glass Plant in Bridgeton as a corrugated print machine operator. He was an avid sports fan, playing baseball, basketball, tennis, and his true love Golf. Presley was a member of the Nanticoke Lenni Lenape Indian Tribe of Bridgeton, and he loved watching old Westerns. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys football fan, and he enjoyed playing corn hole, but he loved his time spent on the golf course with his brother Norman. He was particularly proud of his grandchildrens’ accomplishments and supported their decisions in life. During his illness he loved time spent with his daughter Heidi, playing scrabble together. She and Norma made the time bearable and enjoyable. When his sisters came to call, he enjoyed talking about it for days, especially if Kathy didn’t bring cookies! The outings that he, Norma, Bonnie, and Buzzy went on were stories to be told. Many memories were made with all his siblings are are far too many to recount. Presley loved the ongoing teasing between himself, Mark, and Arden. He truly loved his family, and he spent every last moment cherishing the memories made with them. He will be truly missed by all. Surviving him is his daughter Yajaira Carney Johnson of Bridgeton, his siblings Herbert Carney of Maryland, Norman and Dennis Carney of Delaware, Theodore Carney of Atlantic City, Wayne Carney of Missouri, Patricia Feeney of Delaware, Kathyrn Clark of New Jersey, Louise Doyle and Doris Bard of Pennsylvania, Wanda Carney and Stephanie Carney of California, Donna Pritchett of Nevada, JoAnn Carney of New Jersey, Peggy Carney Jackson of Missouri, Natalie Carney McAllister of Louisiana, his grandchildren Michael A. Besides his parents, Presley was predeceased by a son Brian Carney, and three brothers, Herbert Bard, Martin Carney, and Richard Carney. His daughter would like to give heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Norma Darrah and her family for opening their hearts and lives to Presley. They enriched and blessed his life. Special thanks are also given to Kent General Oncology doctors and nurses for their excellent care and support of Presley and his “entourage,” and to Dr. Dawn Tartaglione, neurosurgeon, for her honesty and knowing the importance of the “quality of life” over “quantity of life.” Family and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Monday December 9, 2019 at 11:00a.m. from the SRAY-WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME, 62 Landis Ave. at Carll’s Corner, Upper Deerfield Twp.
