Street, 57, transitioned to life with his God on December 18, 2019. 1st Lieutenant Street is survived by his parents, Edgar and Beverly Street; brothers, Shelly (Latice) and Edgar Jr.; uncles, Frankie Barnes (Ella Mae), N.W. “Billy” Barnes (Jackie), Henry Street Jr., Stewart Street Sr. and Raymond Street Sr. (Barbara); aunts, Veronica Anderson, Dorothy Moore and Carrie McMackle; nieces, Arika Street (Arika’s sons, Isaiah and Dominic) and Taryn Williams; nephews, Christopher Street, Akem Williams and Jaylon Williams; and a host of other relatives and friends whose lives have been touched by his life. Rod, was educated in the Richmond Public Schools and graduated with the George Wythe High School, Class of 1980. He furthered his education at Radford College, earning a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. During his time there, he pledged Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., becoming a lifetime member. While at Radford, he also joined the Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant upon graduation. His parents had the honor of pinning his Second Lieutenant bars on his uniform. After graduating, Rod begin his military career in the United States Army. He went to airborne school at Fort Bragg, training at Fort McClellan in Alabama and then stationed at Fort Campbell in Kentucky of the 101st Airborne Division, where he was promoted to 1st Lieutenant as a chemical officer. Rod’s Remains rest at Mimms Funeral Home, 1827 Hull Street, where the funeral is being held Saturday, December 28, 2019, at 11 a.m. Interment Maury Cemetery and thereafter gathering at Zion Baptist Church (2006 Decatur Street) to fellowship. We thank all who have been a part of Rod’s life.
