Lanie Sue was born, January 11, 1935, into a humble home that did not have a lot of earthly possessions, but she was surrounded by more love than she could have ever expected. Raised by her aunt, she was taught the true meaning of life; love and worship the Lord and live life to its fullest with the rewards he blesses you with. Lanie Sue attended Stamps High School and after graduation she attended business college in Shreveport La. Shortly after graduation she married her high school sweetheart J. D. Ormand. She always bragged she was the Homecoming Queen that got to marry the Captain of the football team who just so happened to be the most handsome man in Stamps! She never lost her fire for a good football game. Through her life she supported her local teams and always her Cowboys! In her early marriage she devoted time to her husband and then to her son. Working jobs all the while maintaining a stable Christian home. Lanie Sue devoted a large portion of her life to her church. She taught Sunday School, organized events, and was the choir leader for many years. Her devotion to her church was first on her list. Singing was one of her greatest joys. It did not matter when or where, she would willingly “rise to the occasion” to sing old time gospel or modern music. Lanie Sue was honored to join family and friends to sing at funeral services across Lafayette County. She always said, “music and singing soothes a troubled soul”. When asked why she loved to sing so much she said, “The Lord gave me a voice so I’m going to use it”. Lanie Sue also devoted her life to public service. She served as an office deputy for Sheriff Wade Tatom then ran for the Office of Treasurer. When elected she served as Lafayette County Treasurer for 18 years. After her retirement she continued to work in the courthouse in other offices as extra help. She proudly served her county for 40 years. Her life was filled with blessings and she willingly shared them with others. She is proceeded in death by her parents H.D. and Betty Ambrose, Brothers, Leo Ambrose, and Charles Ambrose and her husband J.D. Ormand. She is survived by her son, Danny Ormand and wife Patricia, two grandsons, Josh Ormand and Braxton Harris. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Funeral Services will be Saturday December 28, 2019 10:00am at Smith Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation will be Friday December 27, 2019 from 5pm to 8pm at Smith Funeral Home.
