Kim was in the comfort of her home surrounded by her loving family. Kim was born on September 2, 1969, to Jerry Jones and Merrietta Bolner Goodyear at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana. She graduated from Blackford County High School in 1988. In May of 1993, Kim completed her Bachelor of Science from Ball State University, majoring in Secondary Education/Social Studies. Kim is a member of Phi Alpha Theta (Honorary Social Studies Fraternity, Ball State University, 1990) and Kappa Delta Pi (Honorary Teaching Fraternity, Ball State University, 1991). In June of 1995, Kim acquired additional education licensing for Secondary Social Studies Education completing graduate level, US History and US Government, coursework. Her sharp mind served as an incredible asset throughout her entire life. Kim’s beautiful heart has poured into various facets of life over the years. Out of Kim’s passion for educating the next generation, Kim served as a teacher. She taught US History, Economics, Government and Geography at Zionsville Community High School, 1995-96. She also taught Economics and Geography at Hamilton Southeastern High School, 1996-2001. Out of her love and devotion to her family, she left teaching to focus on giving her all at home with her children. Out of Kim’s appreciation for history, patriotism, and our veterans, she managed applications and data entry for World War II veterans, guardians and volunteers with the Indy Honor Flight from 2012-2016. To further support her family in these most recent years, she served Avon Community School Corporation in various capacities from the classroom to transportation. Out of Kim’s athletic vigor, she found herself reaching new heights and epic goals through Cross Fit exercise at Notch 8 and by completing the Indianapolis 500 Festival Mini Marathon. Out of her adoration for the beauty of creation, she created beautiful gardens in her own yard and avidly served to create more of the same in the yards of her friends and family, developing gardening protégés to carry on her legacy along the way. Out of her deepest desires and needs, she depended on Jesus and His promises for her life. Her greatest desire is that her boys will know the Lord intimately and walk according to His ways as He guides them through life. The family would like to express their gratitude for the love and support that Kim has received, particularly over the past year as she fought a difficult battle for her life. Her dependence on the Lord, her strength and endurance are forever before us and serve as a reminder that Kim did not lose her battle against cancer. Kim gave her all with resolved determination, she fixed her eyes on the Author and Perfecter of her faith, and she gained the ultimate victory in Christ. She fought the good fight. She finished the race. She earned her jewel-filled crown. Kim’s battle is swallowed up in victory given through the grace and the sacrificial love of Christ. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 ESV I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.
