Joanne (Mossman) Mathers, 75 of Elmer passed away on December 6, 2019. Born and raised in Bridgeton, NJ, Joanne attended Glassboro State College where she received her undergraduate degree and was awarded valedictorian upon receiving her Masters Degree in Education. She was married to Frank Mathers in 1966 and became a dedicated wife and mother while building a long and illustrious career as an educator, principal and a superintendent. She inspired many with her joy of teaching and her love of her students and fellow teachers. She retired shortly after being diagnosed with Parkinson’s in 2002. Joanne became a fierce fighter in overcoming her disease and dedicating herself to helping find a cure alongside both her brothers, Franks and Bob. Joanne was a dedicated and active member of Grace Bible Church where her faith provided an enormous amount of strength and comfort during hard times. She was known for her love of music and her dedication to her family and friends and especially her grandchildren who were the joys of her life. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents Margaret and Joseph Mossman. She is survived by her husband Frank, son Brent, daughter Sherri, son In-law Ted, her brothers Frank and Bob and her sister in-law Gail. Joanne was a devoted grandmother to Jon, Kyra and Chase. Services will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Grace Bible Church, 153 Burlington Rd., Elmer, NJ 08318. The viewing will begin at 10 AM with the service following at 11 AM.
