McMAHON, James Patrick, “Jim”, age 79, native to Philadelphia, PA and longtime resident of Sicklerville, NJ died at home on Friday, December 13, 2019 after years of illness. Beloved husband of Eileen (nee Fisher), proud father to Kaitlyn, and devoted cat dad to Scoot, whom he called his Guardian Angel. Survived by siblings, nieces, and nephews in Eileen’s family whom he had adopted as his own and loved dearly. James graduated from Roman Catholic High School in Center City at age 16 and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1957 at age 17. He served honorably and was discharged in October 1959, following a service-related injury. He returned to Philadelphia and pursued higher education at the University of Pennsylvania, where he earned both a Bachelor’s (1963) and a Master’s (1967) in Business Administration from the Wharton School. He met the love of his life, Eileen, in 1970, and they married in 1972. Their family became complete in 1988 with the birth of their only child, Kaitlyn. James had a number of businesses and was something of a jack of all trades. Prior to his retirement in 1993, he was working at Pitcairn Enterprises in Langhorne, PA. He was forced to retire early due to health problems and he then began his tenure as a stay-at-home Dad. We expect he would say that this was the part of his life he was most proud of, as he was singularly committed to his daughter’s upbringing. In his later years, James’s health problems worsened and he was increasingly housebound, but his love for and investment in his family remained constant. Interment will be private, with family and friends invited to celebrate James’s life at a funeral mass and visitation to be held at Our Lady of Hope Parish, 701 Little Gloucester Road, Blackwood, NJ, on Friday, December 27, 2019 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’s memory to the Orphan Kitten Club, P.O. Box 633, Spring Valley, CA 91976 or orphankittenclub.org/donate/.
