Irma Jean’s Obituary Irma Jean Hammond, age 87, of Marshall, IL formerly of Westfield, IL passed away at 3:26 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. She was born January 7, 1932 in Clark County, IL, the daughter of Clarence William “Cotton” Edwards and Martha Varner Sublett Edwards. On August 1, 1948 she married Benjamin Alanson Hammond in Westfield, IL. He passed away on January 2, 2018. Survivors include sons, Benjamin Alanson Hammond II (Beth) of St. Louis, MO and Frederick William Hammond (Darla) of Westfield, IL; daughter, Linda May Livingston of Terre Haute, IN; son in law, Mike Rauckman (Janet) of Shiloh, IL; brothers, Wayne Dean Edwards of Charleston, IL and David Keith Edwards (Barbara) of Westfield, IL; eight grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; brothers, Bill, Charles and Donald Edwards; sister, Mary Catherine Goble; half sister, Margaret Warner; sister in law, Patty Edwards; son in law, Aaron Livingston; daughter, Brenda Kay Rauckman and infant daughter, Betty Ann Hammond. Irma Jean served the community of Westfield as Postmaster for over twenty-six years. She was a faithful member of Westfield United Methodist Church, where she taught youth fellowship, nursery classes and served on the Council of Ministers. She was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge, Royal Neighbors and a NAPUS Member. She was a member of Clark County Extension and enjoyed participating in the local Red Hat Society. Irma Jean was a devoted sixteen year member of the Westfield Village Board. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Westfield United Methodist Church with Rev. Bret Hammond officiating. Burial will follow in Bean Cemetery, rural Martinsville, IL. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Thursday at Westfield United Methodist Church, 225 S. Madison St., Westfield, IL 62474.
