Howard’s Obituary Howard Ross, Sr., 94, of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 in Mill Creek, West Virginia. Born on March 10, 1925 in Thorpe, he was a son of the late William A. and Sarah Adams Ross. He had lived in Bluefield for most of his life and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving in World War II, retired bookkeeper for US Steel at the Gary Warehouse. In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his wife Marie Hicks Ross; one daughter Sarah Cardwell and one son William Ross. Howard is survived by one son, Howard Ross, Jr and wife Linnie of Forest Hill, West Virginia; Son in law Arthur Cardwell and his daughter Lynn of Mill Creek, West Virginia; Grandchildren, James Ross of Princeton, West Virginia, Scott Ross of Tazewell, Virginia, Melanie Ross of Princeton, West Virginia, Amanda Hughes of Mill Creek, West Virginia, David Hughes, Carl Hughes of Mill Creek, West Virginia, and Emily Ross of Forest Hill, WV. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00am at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Brother Steve Miller officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia with friends and family serving as pallbearers. The Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard will be conducting military graveside rites.
