Jefferson “KIP” December 26, 1966 – December 20, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Henry Clay Jefferson, III better known to everyone as “Kip”, departed this life unexpectedly on December 20, 2019. He was born on December 26, 1966 in New Haven, CT to Gloria Jean Tanner and the late Henry Clay Jefferson, II. Henry grew up in New Haven, CT and attended New Haven Public Schools where he completed his primary education. He went on to further his education at a local Community College, where he studied Nursing. Henry then moved to Minneapolis, MN in the early 1980’s where he resided for several years. He then moved to Richmond, VA in 1994 with his family and made Virginia his home. To know him was to love him and he loved everyone in return. Known as the life of the party, he always enjoyed having a good time, he loved to dance, loved good music and had quite the green thumb. Henry also loved traveling and outdoor activities. He was a Mason and an avid Redskins fan and loved Patti Labelle. He was a fabulous cook and loved to feed any and “everyone” walking through his doors. He held many jobs and made plenty of friends “everywhere” he went and was regarded as a “legend’ in many circles. Henry accepted Christ as a young man and was a long time member of Metropolitan African American Baptist Church where he held a position in the Kingdom Village as an Early Child Care Teacher. Henry was preceded in death by; his Grandmothers Annie Nalley and Beatrice Woodard; and Grandfather Julius Tanner. He leaves to cherish two siblings, Reginald (Valerie) Tanner, Princess (Thomas) Woolridge; nieces and nephews: Valdinia Pollard, Shydell Harvin, Portia Adkins, and Jamisha Woolridge; Reginald Tanner, Jr., Terrell Jefferson, Keith Montgomery, Ivery Tanner, Kaymar Tanner, Emmanuel Clark, Lamont Ambler, and Jamel Carrington; several great nieces, and one great nephew. He also leaves a host of cousins and friends. A devoted cousin Stacey Sheats. Best friend, Keith Hagan, and special friends Deborah Green, Tracie Hagan, Nancy Rice, Sharon Brooks, Renae Ambler, Betty George, Serita Roberts, Sheila Vinson, Linda Vinson and Kelli Patel. He also had a host of godchildren. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2019 at 3:00PM at Metropolitan African American Baptist Church, 5263, Warwick Rd. Richmond, VA. Interment Private.
