Gladys’ Obituary HEADLAND. . .Gladys Starling Brown, a resident of Headland, died Wednesday morning, December 18, 2019, in a Dothan hospital. She was 91. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Saturday, December 21, 2019, in the Bethlehem Baptist Church with Reverend Norman C. Simmons and Dr. Keith Wrenn officiating and a eulogy to be given by a grandson, Jason Harris. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Holman-Headland Mortuary & Cremations is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:30 A.M. Saturday in the church sanctuary. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2506 State Highway 134 East, Headland, AL 36345. Mrs. Brown was born in Haleburg, Alabama, daughter of the late William Starling and Osie Lee Starling. She was an active member of the Bethlehem Baptist Church until her health declined. Mrs. Brown taught Sunday School and was involved in the W. M. U., Vacation Bible School, the church choir and other ministry activities. She served as church custodian for over thirty years. Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, John Winston Brown, a son-in-law, Greg Harris, a sister, Doris Harp, and three brothers, Archie Starling, Royce Starling and A. R. Starling. Surviving relatives include three daughters, Jackie Adkins (Ray), Grimes, AL; Janice Harris, Headland; and Jeanne Friedman (Todd), Headland; two sons, Joey Brown (Kim), and Jimmy Brown (Judy), all of Headland; a sister, Irma Ready, Cowarts; two brothers, Billy Starling, Eufaula; and Homer Starling (Janice), Midland City; eleven grandchildren, Kathy Jo Holland (Craig), Jennifer Brown, John Wesley Brown (Jeanie), Tara Adkins, Alicia Kidd (Tony), Jason Harris (Christa), Shanna Peacock, Stacy Church (Jacob), Callie Beevers (Rick), Taylor Brown, and Chelsey Bartlett (Tyler); twenty-one great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren HOLMAN-HEADLAND MORTUARY & CREMATIONS IS IN CHARGE OF ARRANGEMENTS.
