Gary Lee Bates, age 69 passed away on December 15, 2019, at Advent Health in Avon Park, Florida. He was born March 19, 1950 to Armon E. and Mildred Mae Bates in Adrian, Michigan. He has been a resident of Highlands County for the last 18 years since coming from Michigan. Gary enjoyed spending time with Ardith Ann Buskirk and their dogs, Missy and Buddy, at their home in Sebring, Florida, spending time going to garage sales and boating on Red Beach Lake. Gary is survived by his dear friend, Ardith Ann Buskirk of Sebring, Florida. Children Brooke Bates, Ryan Bates and Jeremy Bates of Michigan and their children. As well as, sisters, Linda Poe of Sebring, Florida, Glenda (Barry) Byers of Adrian, Michigan, and Brenda Shaffer of Adrian, Michigan. And many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Armon and Mildred Bates, and brothers Clarence Edward Bates, Armon Eugene Bates and Jerry Allen Bates. It was Gary’s wishes that no service be held.
