July 26 1955 December 10 2019
Denise Sheree Koch-Neumeyer July 26, 1955 to December 10, 2019 Our dear sister, mother, grandmother and friend lost her courageous battle with cancer on December 10, 2019 at Rocky Mountain Care Center in Clearfield Utah. Denise was born to Morgan and Stella Koch on July 26, 1955 in Kansas City Missouri. At just 13 months old she contracted polio which progressed into Post-Polio Syndrome that she lived with her entire life. Despite her health setbacks and many surgeries she graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1973. She attended The University of Missouri and then received a degree in Respiratory Therapy. She worked for a VA hospital and was given the opportunity to move to Utah to continue her career. Many have said she was the best therapist around. After moving to Utah she met and married her partner in crime, Michael Griffin Neumeyer. The two were married on December 16, 1980. She instantly became a bonus mom to 6 children and they were also blessed with 2 daughters. She later worked for the Welfare Department for the State of Utah which she took a disability retirement from. Helping others was her passion in life. She enjoyed being involved in the community. Throughout her life she was a Girl Scout leader and PTA president. Her specialty was organizing fundraisers for various groups like the DARE program in Sunset Utah. Her hobbies included; painting award winning ceramics, sewing, playing the clarinet, cross stitching, Sudoku, reading, puzzles, family history research, solving mysteries, watching Hallmark Christmas movies, and murder mystery shows. Most of all she was a dedicated mother and grandmother. She loved teaching and spoiling her grandchildren. She loved visiting with friends and family as well. Because of her great love for others, she would often have a mother daughter friendship with many of her daughter’s friends especially Regenia Beiker, Sheila Martinez, and Misty Murphy. She loved and adored them like her own children. Her favorite holiday was Christmas. She would have had a Christmas tree and listen to Christmas music all year round if she could. When given the chance, she also loved to play secret Santa for families in need. Surviving are her sister Myrna (Rea) Myers (Blue Springs, MO), her children Amanda (Brent) Bair (Brigham City, UT), Kira (Christopher) Simpson (Clinton, UT). Her bonus children Colleen (Lester) Jorgensen (Ferrin, UT), Holly (Mark) Green (Evanston, WY), Michelle Russell (Clinton, UT), Michael (Cami) Neumeyer (Mesa, AZ), Dustin (Chanda) Neumeyer (Roy, UT), Ryan (Alaina) Neumeyer (North Ogden, UT), and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her Parents Morgan Louis Koch and Stella Deloris Koch, Her Husband Michael Griffin Neumeyer, and 4 grandsons. Memorial services will be held on Saturday December 21, 2019, at 2223 N. 1000 W. Clinton UT 84015. Friends and family can visit at 11am to 11:45am followed by memorial service at 12pm. Flowers, cards, or donations can be sent to Amanda Bair or Kira Simpson.
