Joe’s Obituary Joe Gladney, Jr., age 71, A native Kimbrough, AL and a resident of Thomasville, AL was born August 14, 1948 to the parentage of the late Mr. Joe Gladney, Sr. and the late Mrs. Christine Steel Gladney. He departed this life August 25, 2019 at Saad’s Hospice, Mobile, AL At an early age, Joe united with Friendship Baptist Church in Leroy, AL He continued to fellowship with various churches throughout his lifetime. He graduated from Harper High School, Jackson, AL. He was employed as a logger and also with the City of Jackson as a truck driver for 12 years. Joe was a fun-loving people-person who could make you laugh on a down day. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, helping people, and listening to gospel music on Sunday morning. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Clara Gilchrist, Lula Gladney, and Josie D. Rivers, and one brother, Joseph R. Gladney. His loving and caring life will always be remembered by his family; three daughters, Keshia Stokes of Tuscaloosa, AL, Cassandra Gladney of Leroy, AL, and LaToya Taylor of Mobile, AL; one sister, Christine Ann Gladney of Birmingham, AL; a loving and devoted niece (raised as a sister), Mary Ann Gladney Pugh of Jackson, AL; five grandchildren, Jordan Brown, Brooklynn Taylor, Hasanni Williams, Justin Williams, Jr., and Adrian Poe; four great-grandchildren, Izaiah Poe, Harmoni Poe, La’Zyia Poe, and Areana Walker; two devoted cousins, Dock Steele of Prichard, AL and Randy Steele of Boston, MA; one devoted nephew, David Gilchrist of Pensacola, FL; devoted great nephews, Randy (Keisha) Gladney of Jackson, AL, Abe (Barbara) Miller of Montgomery, AL, and Paul Gladney of Montgomery, AL; devoted great-niece, Tonya Gladney of Jackson, AL; devoted great-great niece, Jakayla Lanier of Colorado Springs CO; devoted friends, Ruth Pritchett, Marie Fuller, John “Bubba” Jackson, Jerry Donald, Johnny Jackson, Early Sheffield, and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing Friday, August 30, 2019, 3-6pm at Andrews Funeral Home Chapel “A”; viewing Saturday, August 31, 2019, 1pm until the 2pm service at St. Union Baptist Church, Davis Avenue, Jackson, AL; Rev. Sylvester Williams, pastor and eulogist. Following the interment ceremony in Woodlawn Cemetery, Jackson, AL; the family will receive friends in the dining hall of St. Union, Jackson.
