Christened and baptized by his father at an early age, AB was a faithful, life time member of Lily Baptist Church where his father presided for over 25 years. Over more than 50 years, AB taught and attended Sunday school and served as a member of Class 5C. He was a member of the Central High School Class of 1953. After high school, he earned a Bachelor’s degree from the Alabama State University and a Master’s Degree from Atlanta University, along with an Advanced Certificate in Education Administration. In 1958, he met and married Jane Baker and from that union, two lovely daughters were born: Gilaine Theresa, and Erin Delise. Abraham is survived by his two daughters, Gilaine Theresa Nettles, and Erin Nettles Thomas, three grandchildren: George Morris Williams, III, Lillian Jane Thomas, and David Lee Thomas, III; one great granddaughter, Ashlynn Brielle Sylvester. These four grands were the delight of his life and he was extremely proud of each one of them. Further, his survivors include two brothers, The Reverend Marshal E. Nettles (Shirley), and Jerrell Tyrone Nettles (Frances) of Mobile; two sisters, Dr. Esther Nettles Rauch (Rear Admiral Charles Rauch) of Bangor, Maine, and Patricia Nettles Clay (State Senator George Clay) of Tuskegee, Alabama.
