William E. “Bill” Dyer lately of Savoy, IL, passed away on the evening of February 7, 2019, at Presence Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, Illinois. He was born on August 26, 1931, in Massac County, IL. He was the son of Walter and Eunice (Corson) Dyer. He married Patricia A. Cockrel on July 21, 1951. A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday, October 26, 2019 in Anderson Cemetery in Boaz, IL with Pastor Peter Ryan officiating. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Mr. Dyer was a member of Faith United Methodist Church, a Mason, and an Army Veteran. He enjoyed golfing with his son Michael, watching college basketball and football, playing cards with family and friends, and reading. A quiet and gentle man, he loved his family and devoted most of his life to their care and happiness. Surviving are two sons, Tony (Holly) Dyer of Aurora and Michael Dyer of Savoy as well as two grandchildren, Jessica Dyer of Westmont, IL, and Abby Dyer of Aurora. He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter, Susan; his parents; four brothers and one sister. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in his memory to Cunningham Children’s Home, 1301 N. Cunningham Avenue, Urbana, IL 61802, www.cunninghamhome.org/donate Arrangements are entrusted to Aikins-Farmer-Loftus-McManus Funeral Home in Metropolis.
