Susan Rita Red Wing Sterrett “Washeenawastewin: Good Shawl Woman” April 28, 1950 – October 22, 2019 Susan Rita Red Wing Sterrett, 69, of Vermillion SD passed away Tuesday, October 22 at her home with her family by her side. Susan was born April 28, 1950 in Martin, SD to Robert and Rita (Byrne) Red Wing. She attended State Fair Community College in Sedalia MO, where she graduated with a Criminal Justice Degree. She married Douglas R Tassler from Pierre SD in 1966. To that union was born one son Douglas (Darla) Tassler. On January 1969 she married Rodney C Sterrett in Pierre SD. To that union 3 children were born, Reda (Todd) Brewer, Suzann (Todd) Moore and Sara (Jeff) Sterrett. She enjoyed spending time playing bingo and cards with her brother and sister. She also enjoyed crocheting, reading books and spending time with her kids and grandkids. She is survived by her 4 children; a sister Roberta (Sis) Collier and a brother Ronald (Connie) Red Wing both from Warsaw MO. Eight grandchildren; Micheal (Tina) Tassler, Karl (Katie) Brewer, Joseph Brewer, Tiffany (Justin) Roetman, Matthew Moore, Erica Sterrett, Kaitlyn Tassler and Jenna Tassler. 8 great grandchildren; Jarrett, JJ and Zander Tassler, Karly and Kallan Brewer, Bryar and Atleigh Brewer and Emberlee Sterrett and several nieces and nephews.
