Stella’s Obituary Reed City – Stella L. Fortune, 72, of Reed City, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away Monday, October 7, 2019, at her residence. She was born April 19, 1947, in Poplar Bluff, MO, the daughter of Ashley and Elizabeth (Dillinger) Draper. In 1962, she married Robert C. Fortune, and the couple spent many years in Buchanan, MI until returning to Poplar Bluff. In 2006 they retired and moved to Hersey until settling in Reed City 2 years ago. Stella was a member of the Evart Moose Lodge. Robert preceded her in death on February 10, 2019. Surviving are 1 daughter Fern (Carl) Backus of Big Rapids; 3 sons, Robert, Jr. (Tracy) of Niles, Brian of Evart, and Lester (Donna) of Dowagiac; 15 grandchildren, Jason, Kristen, Taylor, Collin, Shelby, Sara, Kellie, Kate, Jason, Steven, Crystal, Ashley, Nicholas, Jake, and Emily; 15 great-grandchildren; 3 brothers, David, Shameless, and Ed Draper; and many nieces and nephews. Stella’s family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at the Mohnke Funeral Home in Big Rapids. Private family services will follow at the Park Hill Cemetery near Paris. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in her name may be made for the American Diabetes Association, with envelopes available at the funeral home. Read More
