Leslie Alan Moller, PhD Professor Les Moller, 66, passed early Friday, September 27, 2019, at Agrace Hospice in Madison, Wisconsin, after a resolute fight against brain cancer. He is preceded in death by his father, Joseph Moller; mother, Dorothy Charlotte Goldfus; and his brother, Barry Moller. He is survived by his wife, Maryann Cornell, 3 stepchildren, 10 grandchildren, 2 nephews (Joe and Nick) through his brother, and sister. Les was born on April 9, 1953, and was raised on the South Side of Chicago. He moved north with his mother while in high school and Les wholeheartedly adopted Rogers Park as his true home. It is here that he met the closest friends of his life, formed his strong political opinions, began his academic adventures, and where he eventually met and married his wife. He proudly received his B.A. degree through the innovative Mandala Program, an experimental college design at Mundelein College in Chicago and his M.S. in Industrial Education Design at Loyola University of Chicago. Les worked various jobs before obtaining his doctorate from Purdue University in Instructional Research & Development. He began his academic career at Ithaca College, New York, then moved on to teaching and supervising graduate students at Penn State, the University of Northern Texas, and the University of South Dakota. He later taught at online institutions such as Walden and Capella Universities, and authored numerous articles and book chapters. Les was a lover of nature and American Indian culture, an avid kayaker, and he enjoyed camping. Nothing brought him more joy than his beloved pets, especially his Samoyeds: Frosty, Bear, and Snow Dancer. He was a fiercely loyal friend and loved lively debates and sharing good jokes. He was the ultimate foodie and go-to resource on good restaurants across the U.S. He was always willing to help a friend and will be dearly missed. Rest in peace, Les.
